The Annual Durban Street Store is BACK!
The annual Street Store in Durban is happening on Friday the 16th of June 2017, and all involved are gearing up for another remarkable day of dignified shopping for those less fortunate in our city. Grace Family Church and Grace Aid, in partnership with the Denis Hurley Centre, will be hosting the Pop Up Street Store from 8.30am-12.00pm at 2 Cathedral Road in the Durban CBD (Denis Hurley Centre).
Grace Family Church is calling for donations of like-new clothing, shoes, and accessories for all ages, as well as non-battery operated toys for kids. Your collections can be dropped off at the Grace uMhlanga, Riverside or Ballito church campuses. There will be a huge shipping container, sponsored by Container World, based at Grace uMhlanga and the target is to fill it to the brim with donated clothing. Being a Key sponsor, we at JAM Clothing, also have drop-off boxes at selected stores around Durban, namely Hillcrest, Amanzimtoti, The Crescent and Smith Street. There will also be an opportunity to assist in sorting the donated items at Grace Family Church (uMhlanga Campus) on Monday 14 May, between 4-8pm.
On the day of the Street Store, clothing is hung up and displayed for shoppers to browse and select what they need and like, as adults and children off Durban’s streets are provided an opportunity to fulfil a basic need. ‘The focus of the Street store is to give dignity as people choose their clothing, enjoy a meal, have their hair cut and are blessed by volunteers whose sole aim is to let each person know they are significant and welcome”, says Dave Richter of Grace Aid.
The Durban Street Store is an event that brings people together, and extends hope and generosity to those in need. Will you join the movement?
